Hello and welcome to my personal/crafty blog :) My name is Estivalia and I'm a papercrafter, rubberstamper, card and ATC maker. You can read more about me, my art and how to contact me on the "About" page. Thanks for stopping by!

Tagged and random stuff

Today I got tagged by my dearest friend, Laura! (aka The Stampin’ Soldier). We met last year, when we were both starting blogging, she was my faithful reader (and commenter) over at my old LJ :P

Ok, so here are the rules!

  1. Only five people allowed..
  2. Four of them have to be dedicated followers of your blog. One has to be new and live in another part of the world.
  3. You have to link back to who gave you the award.

So, the winners are…. *drumroll*

  • Patty (because she’s teh master of collage and vintage stuff)
  • Denise (the girl who introduced me to icanhazcheezburger… the page I spend infinite hours browsing, love her sense of humor!)
  • Sandy (she does amazing stuff for american soldiers that are away from home… not to mention she’s my Copic idol!)
  • Heather (amazing stamp designer and digital scrapbooker)

Sorry the blog it’s been on a “hiatus” mode for a few weeks, hopefully that will end soon! (time to get done on the christmas stuff… with how much little time I’ve got, I better start now, LOL!)

And yes, I’m so using a hedgie stamp from Penny Black. Just waiting to hear back from the eBay seller. Speaking of hedgies, I got a new home for my little ones! And, yes, that’s plural. I couldn’t bare to part with the hoglet (that’s a she and I named her Paprika, and it’s HUGE!).

If I don’t find time to post anything creative the next thing you see will be pictures of them in the new house.

Oh, and a final nota, please please remember I have some ColorBox Cat’s Queue (the stackables mini inkpads) in both Pigment and Chalk for sale at my Etsy. They’re BRAND NEW and still SEALED! (seriously, I need to pay for that Wodent Wheel I already bought, lol)

See ya soon, girls! :)

Asian Inspired

Today I DO have a card, yippie! I made this card last night. I wanted to make an asian card and so, I grabbed this gorgeus washi paper with cranes on it. I ♥ papers with cranes, mainly because it’s one of the few asian stamps I have left. Oh, yeah, I should dust off that Haiku Bunny stamp… soon, soon!

So I stamped my crane with Versamark over a hadnmade cream/vanilla colored paper and used my new chalk set to add a shimmery gold look to it. Details in black and red are painted with prismacolor pencil.

To make the small grungeboard flourish I just cut a bigger one in half and painted it with golden acrylic paint. Then I added a white paper flower and a leaf on the right.

I don’t have time right now to add the supply list because I have to study for a test on wednesday (labour law). But after that I’ll be test-free for 2 weeks, yay!! So, wish me luck and I hope to see you soon again :)

Oh, and visit my friend’s Laura blog, she’s offering a “mystery” blog candy in exchange of watching pictures of your craft space (I know we all love to show off ;) and your organization ideas. I’m sure it’ll be an awesome loot!

So, I’ve been procrastinating

Sorry for the crappy picture… and card (I am totally aware this is not one of my best creations, lol). I just finished this card for a classmate whose birthday was today (but I’ll see her tomorrow because she has a test, not fun!).

I’m totally falling asleep right now, so I’ll edit this later to add the supply list and stuff.

Hugs!

Estivalia :)

Just a small note

The last 2 items that I put up on my Etsy just expired, after 3 months and no one bough them :( I am not going to renew the cards that expired, but will try something else.

So I put 2 matching cards up... let’s see how it’ll do :)

I was also thinking about buying some of those incredibly cute hedgie stamps from Penny Black to make cards to sell in a forum for chilean owners of hedgie. Well, not that I wouldn’t love some of those! I can’t afford new ones just right now… so, if you have some of this stamps used that would like to sell/trade, please think of me! :)

Hugs,

Estivalia.

Happy Day Elzybell

2008-07-07 I actually made this card yesterday, but I just found time to post it. Seriously, ever since we went back to “normal” classes after the strike professors have been taking revenge on all of us. But, it’s a price for the things that were accomplished.

Anyway, for this card I wanted to try a vintage-ish style of some sorts, inspired by the amazing artwork from my friend Patty :) I think I failed but it was still fun to try, lol.

I started with a piece on Grungeboard and covered it with some text and distressed it with Distress Inks (seriously, I love that stuff, will be getting more soon!). I colored and paper pieced the Elzybell image with copic markers and also distressed it with scissors and ink.

My base is Wild Wasabi cardstock with some Memory Box paper over it (gorgeus paper! seriously, my favourite line so far) and a vellum layer. The “happy day” sentiment and the flowers are actually rub-ons.

Then I added a paper flower with a aged metallic brad that I got as a RAK (and been hoarding because I love them so much I don’t want to run out, LOL!).

Anyway, I’ll leave you with the supply list. Thank you for visiting!

Take Two

Hey all! Sorry I’ve been such a slacker lately (at posting, commenting, sending RAKs, etc). I feel so drained when I finish an exam, ugh.

Anyway, today’s card is a remake of an old one from March, do you remember it? It uses the same papers and bird stamo but I added a few touches here and there. What can I say, I love heat embossing ♥

Since I changed the way I store my paper flowers I’ve been using them a lot lately, today I tried using eyelets in the center instead of brads (to use a little mi neglected Crop-A-Dile, lol).

This card is shorter on the outside and the “you mean everything to me” message is actually stamped on the inside of the card, very much like this card. Oh the irony, lol.

Tomorrow I’m buying a bunch of envelopes to start sending RAKs and stuff… It’s amazing how many card I’ve acumulated this year! (and yes, I have cards from JANUARY still on my desk). So… see you in the mail!

I’m a grandma!

Flashback to last month, remember this post? Well, I’ve been taking good care of my hedgie, I just bought her a new cage and she seemed to be doing fine (well, she was a little fatty but I blamed it on the food and the small cage).

So, normal stuff.

Today I had lunch and went to see if I needed to refill her water dish (she’s been drinking LOTS of water lately) and I saw a small pinkish-fleshy ball with some little hair peeking out of her nest…

HOLY CRAP, she had babies!!

I don’t know how many (or if there are any more than the one I saw) nor can I take pictures of them, at least for the next couple weeks.

So, I just wanted to share some random new with you since I haven’t donde anything productive this week (at least not craft related… oh, buying a lot of inks on eBay count? LOL). Yesterday I had my first test and, really, I studied hard, but I fear the worse because it was NOT what any of us was expecting! (LOL expecting… sometimes I crack myself up)

Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow! :)

Simple CASE

2008-06-22Sorry for today’s crappy picture, I’m not feeling too well and the day is cloudy, so lighting is really sucky right now :(

This card is a case of one Debbie Olson made for the latest PTI release, I inspired on her sketch and colors.

The bird is colored with a G00 COPIC marker (which is the closest to Soft Sky I’ve found) and I also added some flock to the trail dots and the wings… fun! and I totally love the texture :)

I was going to hang a small sentiment from the ribbon with some thread, but I decided it’d be better to leave it as an “all ocassion” card, lol.

Everything else is much self-explanatory so I’ll leave you with the supply list

Stamps: Decorative Birds (Hero Arts), Little Lady (Papertrey Ink), Polka Dot background (SU!).
Inks: Palette Burnt Umber, Soft Sky classic (SU!)
Papers: Light brown textured opaline, white cardstock, Soft Sky cardstock (SU!)
Misc: brown and white crushed velvet flock (Doodlebug Designs), ZIG Squeeze&Roll 2 way glue (EK Success), medium corner rounder (EK Success), polka dot satin ribbon (American Crafts).

PS: Check out the BIG sale at Stampin’ Treasures, there are stamps as low as $1 and sets for $5! I’m definetely not being paid for the ad, I’m just a very very happy customer! :)

ETA: I uploaded a new picture… MUCH better! I also painted the wings and made the dot trail a lot more visible. Love it :)

Mojo Monday on Wednesday

2008-06-11I was going to post this yesterday but the server my blog is hosted on crashed for a while last night. When it came back, I went and tried to publish again, but more than half my post was gone! :( Anyway, it was late so I left it until today, ugh.

My card today is based on Julee’s Mojo Monday 41 and using one of my favourite sheets from the new Memory Box paper pack. I didn’t want to cover up the paper I used instead a piece of vellum cut in one end with a scalloped scissor and heat embossed a swirl in white on the other side.

The satin ribbon is one my mom had in her stash and I embellished it with one of the scalloped ribbon sliders that I had been hoarding for the “perfect” time to use.

The Elzybell image is a RAK that Charlene sent me and I colored it with the following COPIC markers: R20 (Blush), RV11 (Pink), E00 (Skin White) E21 (Baby Skin Pink), E33 (Sand), W1(Warm Grey n°1) and W3 (Warm Grey n°3). I followed this blog post tutorial about shading with greys when you don’t have the right color. Great tip!

I’m a real slacker when it comes to participate on Julee’s sketch challenge. Truth be told, so many layers really intimidate me :P But I always like the result so I’ll try to participate more often!

Stamps: Girl on swing (Elzybells NA), Elegant Flourishes (Autumn Leaves), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink).
Inks: Versamark (Tsukineko), Purely Pomegranate classic ink (Stampin! Up).
Papers: Grove paper pack (Memory Box), Purely Pomegranate cardstock (Stampin’ Up!), light brown textured cardstock.
Misc: Paper flowers, 1/8″ silver brads, ribbon slider (Stampin’ Up!), cream satin ribbon, Seafoam white embossing powder (Ranger), scalloped edge scissor.

Simple birds

2008-06-08Finally, the strike/take over/asdf at my university ended! After a whole month of doing nothing… I’m going back to classes! (figures, I never though I’d be so happy to have classes again, lol).

So, for today I have a simple card to share before all the academic madness starts. I tried to follow Beate’s latest sketch challenge, but in the end I decided I didn’t want to cover the pretty patterned paper, which I enhanced with glitter and a glue pen. It’s not really that visible here, but if you click on the image it’ll take you to a bigger version on Flickr :)

So, I have to say that, while glitter is very fun… is also very messy! I ended up having glitter all over my desk, lol. I’m glad I don’t have carpet on my stamping-place.

2008-06-08_detail

And I finally figured out hotw to use Photoshop Elements frames, lol. I had been wanting to use them for closeup pictures but I never had a lot of success until today… and it was a really dumb thing, lol.

That’s all for today… thanks for visiting and I hope to see you soon! :)

Papers: “Aerial” paper pack (Memory Box), Soft Sky cardstock (Stampin Up!), K&Co. patterned paper.
Misc: Prisma glitter (Hero Arts), Zig 2 way glue pen (EK Success), scalloped edge scissor, medium corner rounder (EK Succes).
