Hello and welcome to my personal/crafty blog :) My name is Estivalia and I'm a papercrafter, rubberstamper, card and ATC maker. You can read more about me, my art and how to contact me on the "About" page. Thanks for stopping by!

Reuse

Happy sunday everyone! (and to my friends in Mexico, have a great Día de los Muertos :).

For today I have this small collage to share with you. My base is a chipboard rectangle that measures 1″x3″. Oddly enough, it came with rounded cornes and all… in a cereal box! I have like 10 of this small canvases, I think they came with a toy or something, but I don’t really remember.

I covered the chipboard with a scrap of a patterned paper I had lying around on the desk and inked it a bit to “age” it. Then I printed the geisha, cut it around, added a bit of japanese ephemera and more ink from the “Chocolate & Blueberies” Colorbox Fluid Chalk nested inkpad (hmm.. that name made me hungry, lol!).

I wasn’t very happy with the edges of the whole thing, so I sanded them with the Basic Grey File Precision set. It really makes a difference!

Finally, I punched a hole on the top right corner with my Crop-a-Dile and tied a fiber. Easy-peasy, a very quick project :)

Futurama meets Kleenex

Still nothing crafty, sorry! :(

In the meantime I’d like to leave you with an episode that a friend recommended of my favourite animated series ever, Futurama. It’s the 7th episode on season four, called “Jurassic Bark” (you’ll get why :p)

Saddest. Thing. Ever.

There, I said it. Now that you are warned, you’re free to click (I can’t embed then here :( )

Testing…

Sorry, no craftiness today. I’m testing a new plug-in that will automatically post to Twitter whenever I publish something over here.

Inchies

Blessed be long weekends, because otherwise I wouldn’t had made anything artistic :p So, this is my latest artistic little thing. And I do mean little, it was harder to work on a 1″ square than I thought.

So, I started with some cardboard covered with a vintage pages from and old book, the one that Claudio gave is actualy… 50 years old!! I hadn’t checked the date before. I’m selling some inchie bases just like these ones I used here on my Etsy, if you’re interested ;)

Anyway, next thing I did was stamp some flowers (from a rubberstamp dear Heather sent me when I was just starting on the OSA group) in different shades of blue and brown and inked the edges too.

Finally I printed an image of a japanese lady combing her hair, cut it around and glued it down in different angles, to try which one would look best. My favourite is the top middle one :)

I don’t know what I’ll be doing with these yet, so if you want to trade comment here or drop me a line :) (my e-mail address is on the “About Me” page).

Thanks for visiting!

Materials: Cardboard, text book pages, “Chocolate and Blueberries” Colorbox fluid chalk inks (Clearsnap),glue, printed image, “Four Season” round stamp (Art Neko).

So, I’ve been procrastinating

Sorry for the crappy picture… and card (I am totally aware this is not one of my best creations, lol). I just finished this card for a classmate whose birthday was today (but I’ll see her tomorrow because she has a test, not fun!).

I’m totally falling asleep right now, so I’ll edit this later to add the supply list and stuff.

Hugs!

Estivalia :)

Flower and leaves

2008-05-26

I can’t believe it’s been almost one week since I last posted a card! :o I also fail to understand why I feel like making a flower card AFTER the Hero Arts blog challenge is over, lol. Oh well, I don’t have any HA flower images anyway.

So this card started last night and I wanted to do 2 things: use Groovy Guava (because it’s the color I’ve used least I think) and the Fall Leaves designer paper. I don’t know how along the road the combination of Groovy Guava and Old Olive came to my mind, but now I think it doesn’t look as bad as I thought at first!

I stamped the flower over white cardstock using a black detail ink, waited for it to dry completely and colored with COPIC markers: R02 (flesh) for the petals and YG03 (Yellow Green) for the stem and leaves. Below I stamped “friends” with groovy guava ink. I adhered this white circle to the groovy guava scalloped one using foam tape too (I’m crazy for foam tape, can you tell? ;)

Then I went to look for some embellishments… and I was very lucky to have some paper flower in matching colors, woo hoo! :) So I adhered them to my designer paper with a brad and to brighten it a little more I added a little bit of stickles to them (and to the petals of the stamped one). I love the little bling Stickles add to everything!

A butterfly and other news

2008-04-12

Last one… for now :P For this one I wanted to try and make a little backgorund, even if it was a really simple one. It sucks terribly, but at least my butterfly really stands out, which makes me happy :)

Again, I used watercolors and watercolor pencils (still a week and a half until my prismas arrive *snif*) with a little bit of black acrylic paint, to make a really nice and deep black for the wings.

I used a white gel pen to make the little dots on the butterfly’s wings :p I’d like it better if it was a nicer white, like an acrylic paint pen. I’ve heard the new Ranger white pen is nice, so maybe I’ll order it to see what it is like.

I had forgot to say that I received a handmade PIF from Sandra some weeks ago. Now it’s my turn to pay-it-forward with something handmade. I’m trying to come up with some ideas but I think I’ll post something about it over next week. I hope it’s something you want to participate in :)

On other news, I’ve been browsing Etsy lately, there are sooo many things I’d like to order that I’d have to paint hundrerds of ACEOs to finance everything :P From bags and purses to asian inspired rubberstamps (lovely designs!). Here are some of my favourites:

Materials: Watercolor paper (300grs), watercolors (Winsor & Newton), watercolor pencils (Karat Aquarel, Staedtler), black acrylic paint (Artel), brushes, white gel pen (Uni-ball).

Tag… you’re at it

I received the above award from my dear friend Laura (aka The Stampin Soldier). She’s been having some rough times lately, so go on and show her some love, people! ♥

Well, I’m suppose to tag other 10 bloggers, but I think I can only make it up to five :P

    1. Patty (Magpie’s Nest), her altered art and vintage stuff always amazes me… I can’t do vintage to save my life!
    2. Sandy (A Colourful World), her videos about Tsuki always crack me up :P
    3. Lauren (Groppi Girl Blogs), yet another stamper with funny cats. I love her PTI creations :)
    4. Denise (Geekgirl’s Random Ramblings) love her artwork and her funny cat images, lol.
    5. Debbie (Thinking Inking) her projects are always so inspiring and she is such a nice person, too

Oh yeah, has anyone ever emailed PTI’s customer service? I e-mailed them on tuesday and so far no answer (some months ago I emailed them too and never received answer). If I don’t hear from them… could anyone get the sets I want for me and send them? (I would pay you through PayPal).

There it is, now I’ll go to bed to be ready for some stampin’ fun tomorrow!

Christmas tag

I saw this on Sandy’s blog (colourful on 2peas) and I though it would be interesting to follow the blogosphere experiment. Besides, I have nothing crafty to post and I won’t until my paper trimmer arrives. Claudio told me my wrist has been hurting because of a tendinitis and it could get worse if I keep pushing it.

Now, it’s your time. If you decide to make this Q&A please let me know in a comment or tell Sandy, I know she’ll love to see where this spreads :)

ETA: Oh yeah, we had another tremor early in the morning today (5am). Not the first though (there was another on Thursday at 4am). Not that I’m loosing any sleep for it, though, better have several “soft” ones instead of a big ugly one.

Lame excuse

Hey everybody! How are those christmas cards going? ;) Here, pretty slow since I haven’t even received the stamp I want to use for mine, LOL (I’m so stalking my mailman tomorrow). We have only a few decorations and lights out, no tree yet. Do you use natural trees? Here in Chile (at least on the north and center regions) getting a natural christmas is not a popular tradition, so artificial it is (I like to think it’s more eco-friendly that cutting them down).

I haven’t been really crafty the last few days, but I’ll get my off my lazy @$$ get something done today to post. I really feel more guilty about leaving this poor blog un-updated than I do about my personal LJ in spanish, lol. I’m trying to start scrapbooking but first I have to take some decent pictures (I’ll be doing 8,5″x11″ pages).

On a brighter side… it’s seasons begin down here in SA, yeah! FINALLY I get to see House M.D 4th season and Heroes 2nd season!! (my 2 favourite shows ever). No signs of Grey’s Anatomy though. Could anyone enlighten me and let me know if the writer’s strike ended?

Oh, have you seen Kristina Werner’s blog yet? She has the most amazing feature on her blog, Make a Card Monday where she posts a walkthrough video for a card, and I’ve learn so much from her! (like, how to pronounce “Staz-On”, lol). Also. she’s the one to blame that I now NEED glitter and that heat & stick stuff from SU!, lolz. (ETA: aaand those Coluzzle thingies, I really feel like making circular cards).

Well, gotta go :)

ETA: Really feeling “under the weather” today :(
