Changes

Today is a big day for me :)

As most of you know I’m a law student at the University of Antofagasta. And some of you also know that I really don’t like that career, it was what my parents wanted to be and, being 17 and without a piece of self-confidence to go against them (because we had major fights and conflicts on my senior year), I decided to go with their wishes.

I’ve been regreting that decision ever since. I never liked law, I couldn’t find myself working on that for the rest of my life. I talked to my father repeatedly about it, almost begging, but he never listened, believing that it was because I was inmature and that, eventually, I’d thank him. The frustration grew while my grades went downhill (I am redoing most part of 3rd year when I should be in 4th).

So, why I am telling you this? Because after 4 years of struggles, and lots of therapy…

I’m FINALLY a Graphic Design student! (which I’ve been wishing to be since… uh… 2002 or so :)

The change has been discussed for a few months and I really couldn’t imagine it’d be a reality. But it is. I took a special admission test for a local university and I’m in. Today I have to pay and enrollment fee and it’d be official.

I’m ecstatic :)

(Btw, I have a card to post but I’ll be later, since I’m on my way to my new university :)

Just a quick post

To let you know that there is some awesome back to school blog candy over at “Inky and Scrappy”, a crafty blog by Jaime.

It’s an alphabet clear stamp set by “Close to my Heart”. I loved the font and I totally need an alphabet set ;) It’s very easy to participate, leave a comment and you’re in.

Good luck!

Tagged and random stuff

Today I got tagged by my dearest friend, Laura! (aka The Stampin’ Soldier). We met last year, when we were both starting blogging, she was my faithful reader (and commenter) over at my old LJ :P

Ok, so here are the rules!

  1. Only five people allowed..
  2. Four of them have to be dedicated followers of your blog. One has to be new and live in another part of the world.
  3. You have to link back to who gave you the award.

So, the winners are…. *drumroll*

  • Patty (because she’s teh master of collage and vintage stuff)
  • Denise (the girl who introduced me to icanhazcheezburger… the page I spend infinite hours browsing, love her sense of humor!)
  • Sandy (she does amazing stuff for american soldiers that are away from home… not to mention she’s my Copic idol!)
  • Heather (amazing stamp designer and digital scrapbooker)

Sorry the blog it’s been on a “hiatus” mode for a few weeks, hopefully that will end soon! (time to get done on the christmas stuff… with how much little time I’ve got, I better start now, LOL!)

And yes, I’m so using a hedgie stamp from Penny Black. Just waiting to hear back from the eBay seller. Speaking of hedgies, I got a new home for my little ones! And, yes, that’s plural. I couldn’t bare to part with the hoglet (that’s a she and I named her Paprika, and it’s HUGE!).

If I don’t find time to post anything creative the next thing you see will be pictures of them in the new house.

Oh, and a final nota, please please remember I have some ColorBox Cat’s Queue (the stackables mini inkpads) in both Pigment and Chalk for sale at my Etsy. They’re BRAND NEW and still SEALED! (seriously, I need to pay for that Wodent Wheel I already bought, lol)

See ya soon, girls! :)

I’m a grandma!

Flashback to last month, remember this post? Well, I’ve been taking good care of my hedgie, I just bought her a new cage and she seemed to be doing fine (well, she was a little fatty but I blamed it on the food and the small cage).

So, normal stuff.

Today I had lunch and went to see if I needed to refill her water dish (she’s been drinking LOTS of water lately) and I saw a small pinkish-fleshy ball with some little hair peeking out of her nest…

HOLY CRAP, she had babies!!

I don’t know how many (or if there are any more than the one I saw) nor can I take pictures of them, at least for the next couple weeks.

So, I just wanted to share some random new with you since I haven’t donde anything productive this week (at least not craft related… oh, buying a lot of inks on eBay count? LOL). Yesterday I had my first test and, really, I studied hard, but I fear the worse because it was NOT what any of us was expecting! (LOL expecting… sometimes I crack myself up)

Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow! :)

Happy happy! :)

Hey people! Sorry I have no project for today, but I really wanted to share some big (well, actually rather small ;) news…

Say hi to my daughter! ♥

Hello!

Isn’t she cute?? (well, actually she’s a little sleepy) She’s an 1yr old african hedgehog that a friend gave me as gift because he had way too much on his house and his parent’s couldn’t take care of all them anymore (my friend attends college on a different city). I’m very excited because I’ve loved those little critters for a long while and I’ve been wanting to have a small pet (like a mouse or a hamster) but hedgehogs were way out of my budget.

I don’t have a name for her yet, so I’m open tu suggestions!

Thanks!

Hey everyone! I just want to thank you all for your nice words and all the support on my first PTI BlogHop entry. WOW, +20 comments, that’s a record for me! :D and I got 15 votes on the forum… a BIG kiss to those girls that voted for me! :)

So, see ya next month :)

Battle against the mighty spider

001

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or quickly check it up while visiting probably noticed that today (well, like at 4am) I got bit by a spider. My main suspect? The chilean recluse spider. Why? well, we painted the closets with some anti-spider paint some weeks ago and looks like they have decided to move. Also, yesterday I found a little one in the bathroom when I was going out of my shower… damn creppy little thing got away before I could grab my shoe and SPLAT! it (those little critters are fast).

So, at the mentioned hour I woke up with a sharp pain in my elbow, I blamed tendinitis (you know I have those from time to time). I went to the bathroom and noticed a rash, like an insect sting/bite. Well, I assumed it was a flea because my sister’s pooch often sleeps in my bed, so I tried to went back to sleep, unsucessfully for a while.

My life was pretty normal until Claudio arrived and, being him a paramedic who has worked on the hospital several times, he instantly recogniced the bite and had me call an emergency service (REM -basically a doc that comes to visit you to your place). I put some ice on the thing, they injected me, gave me some meds and left.

At this point I called my father to ask him how could I buy the meds using his medical insurance (while I’m studying in university I can use his insurance), he asked why and… oh, the drama. My father thought that because of the spider that got me I should FLY -not run- to the E.R and stuff. because my arm should be falling down in necrosis at that time. Btw, I researched about it, and the wound starts to get worse at the 3rd day of the bite (I had like 12hrs at that time).

So… in 10 minutes I found myself in the clinic’s E.R. A urine exam and yet-another-injection later they told me that I was fine. I didn’t had poison left and I should just keep with the meds. Which make me awfully sleepy. I’m just waiting for Grey’s Anatomy to end and then I’ll go to sleep. I can foresee I’ll wake up at 12pm tomorrow, LOL.

So, that was my day :)

Cats and custom stamp

2008-02-21

Finally, a card! This one was hard to make, in fact, I started with a different color combination. But, oh well, I think it turned out nice :)

Again, I cut out the cats of my Kodomo cat stamp and adhered them to the card with mounting tape for dimension, I think it’s more fun this way. I also used some 1/8″ silver brads.. I can’t wait til my Crop-A-Dile arrives so I can start using eyelets (I ordered one from eBay :)

I also distressed the main panel with ink and a sponge (LOVE that!). The “hello” sentiment are stickers, I think they go so well with the patterned paper on the scalloped edge.

By the way, I just took a picture of the custom stamp I ordered so you can see the logo and stuff. I still need to add the credit card information, but then I’ll be ready to open :)

009

And that’s it for today. Thank you so much for visiting and I *hope* to see you soon (if my mojo lets me :)

Estivalia.

Inks: Burnt Umber Palette (Stewart Superior)
Misc: Scalloped edge scissor, hobby blade, mounting foam tape, 1/8″ silver brads, UHU glue, Alphabet stickers (EK Success)

Weeee!

This is a really short message because in a couple of minutes I have to meet Claudio in the hospital (one of his teeth hurts a lot). I hope it’s nothing serious.

But… Rhi is back! :D  I always loved Rhi’s artwork using those cute A*Muse stamps, and a couple of weeks before she took a “vacation” from crafting, she helped me get my Elzybell stamp, that I love so much . I’m happy to see she’s back at posting, you should really check up her cute little mailbox :)

And I have my custom stamp made for my Etsy shop, yay! It was *really* expensive… like $30 for an automatic self-inking stamp, but oh boy, I so love it! I’ll take a picture of it later because my camera batteries died. Hopefully I’ll get a card done too (yup, Mojo Monday again, lolz).

So, take care everyone and sorry for being so MIA :)

Hellooo…

…elloo, ellooo *echo*

Sorry I’ve gone missing -again- today’s excuse is that I don’t feel to well, a little stomach ache. But I’ve been working in getting a project done.

I’m working on getting an Etsy shop to sell my handmade cards :) Most of the cards I make and post on the blog don’t have a determined purpose, and they often sit around my desk for months before meeting an envelope and stamps. So, I though I might as well use them to finance supplies. It’s a vicious circle, I tell you!

I’ve been working on graphics for the store (banner, avatars, etc) and I still have to make some things, like I want to  make a custom stamp to “sign” the back of the cards, figure out the right price, shipping costs, etc.

I’ll let you know when I open it, so you can give me your feedback :)

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you soon!
