Flocked Bird

Hi! I finally made something “post worthy” ;) This one is for Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge #54, I just flipped the sketch like if you looked it in a mirror so it’d work with my image (I hope it still counts, LOL).

I loved this sheet of patterned paper and I was just so lucky yesterday to find a matching piece of cardstock! So I cut the cardstock to make a 5″ square card and trimmed the paper to 4 3/4″ square.

I stamped my bird with a Glue Pad and then with purple pigment ink to flock it with matching flock, very nice effect :) Then I matted it with a vellum circle that I scalloped with a corner round (same old, same old).

The orange strip was stamped with a bird in Versamark repeteadly to make a pattern and at the end I made a knot using this video tutorial.

The only thing I regret is that the bird is a little crooked, but one can’t win them all :P

Estivalia.

Stamps: “Always” set (Stampin’ up!), “Decorative Birds” set (Hero Arts). Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko), Wisteria chalk ink (Colorbox).Paper: Indigo cardstock, orange textured cardstock, “Aerial” paper pack (Memory Box), vellum. Misc: Scalloped scissor, grossgrain ribbon, medium corner rounder punch (EK Success).

Oh, and a bonus (because I couldn’t resist sharing this cute pic of Pimienta :)

Oh wow, that bird paper is terrific!!! Great card!

This is a really pretty card. The pattern paper matches your stamp perfectly.

Love your card E. Your put so much thought and effort into your creations! I saw you use that bird stamp before and had to buy one for myself! Flocked sounds extra special = wowee! You sound like a bit of a perfectionist, ask me how I know. I would not have noticed your birdie being the tiniest bit off had you not mentioned it, it’s not where the eye goes first….but I often look at things and notice the smallest details of my work that I wish were just a little different. Buy hey, that makes it special, one of a kind, handmade!

Pimienta is SO precious. What a perfect picture, I think she likes her photo taken, she’s darling! TFS I will ’see’ you again the second week of September, we fly tomorrow oxoo

Pimenta is adorable. So is your card. The layout is fabulous - love how you interpreted the sketch!

Great card! I love that stamp!!! Thanks so much for playing!
Your little Pimenta looks sooo cute!
Hugs and smiles

I didn’t even notice the bird being off at all, but I’m sure we all can be more critical of our own creations. I rarely remake something if I find it crooked (unless it is WAY off) because I think it keeps a more handmade feel and charm–either that or I run out of time and it has to stay crooked. :-)

BTW, Pimienta is so very cute.
