Rough Week

2008-03-20

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts, on my defense I had a rough week. I had to make two assignments for the same day AND I got the flu, yay for me! But this long weekend I’ll catch up, promise!

So, let’s start with a simple card. It all started with the paper, which has blue butterflies in it. I noticed the largest one had a color very much like Blue Bayou so I paired it with a misc. brown cardstock. Unfortunately I trimmed the wrong side of the paper so the “big butterfly” is missing and perhaps doesn’t make as much sense now, LOL.

Then I realized I have no butterfly stamps (OMGosh, gotta solve that! any suggestion? ;) so I went with my favourite theme… birds! I stamped it with brown ink and colored with a reinker and a Copic marker (R20 - Blush).

I think the bottom part looks a little empty (and that is why I cheated and put my watermark there :p) but I couldn’t figure out what to do there. So, when in doubt… leave it there to avoid messing up, which is a lesson I’ve learned over time (the hard way) and that’s specially true when I feel sick.

Oh, well… happy thursday that feels like friday for all of you! :)

Stamp: “Decorative Birds” (Hero Arts).
Inks: Burnt Umber Palette (Stewart Superior), Blue Bayou Classic reinker (Stampin’ Up!).
Paper: “Far East” collection (DCWV), Blue Bayou cardstock (Stampin’ Up), white cardstock (misc.).
Misc: Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon (Stampin’ Up!), Scalloped circle punch (Stampin’ Up!), 1/4″ Pink grossgrain ribbon, Coluzzle, mounting foam tape.

No butterfly stamp? That’s a pitty… I’m sure there are plenty on the market, but if you want one that’s cheap and easy to get, than consider making your own! I guess you’re very handy with a pair of scissors, so it should be easy to cut one out of thin foam and use it as a stamp…

beautiful card! hope your feeling better

This is beautiful. You didn’t need anything at the bottom. I hope you feel better!

Get Better FAST! What a bummer- all that school work AND getting sick. Despite all that, your card is PRETTY! Great Colors!

So sorry that you’ve been sick, Estivalia. That’s a really sweet bird, and I love your colors! Butterflies? I have some from Karen Lockhart, Spellbinders (with matching die), Stampin’ Up, and Starving Artiststamps. . . Have fun looking for one!
